Beverley Parklands

Busy @ Beverley

We have had a very busy couple of months, from tea parties to sky diving, we've kept our resident’s busy here at Beverley Parklands.

February kick started with a visit to Hull Collegiate School, who’s Year 4’s hosted a fabulous afternoon tea dance for our residents. The School are currently working on the United Learning Social Action Change Project, helping to raise awareness of Dementia. We were treated to tea and cakes, followed by entertainment consisting of ballroom dances performance and a good old sing-a-long of old classics around the piano. It has been a pleasure to team up with the school and to see such young children help raise awareness.

In between outing we also found time to celebrate Valentine’s Day, on which everyone received a red rose of course. We have had a visit from the Beverley Hand Bell Ringers who provided us with an afternoon of music.

Some of our residents also took part in a sky diving experience. Using our latest technology in the homes, our virtual headsets, residents were able to experience a virtual skydive to get the pulses racing. Participants who braved the visual fall received a certificate upon completion. The headsets are a huge asset to the home, proving entertainment and experiences that many of our residents would not otherwise be able to enjoy.

March saw us participate in for the first time in The Yorkare Games, meeting up with our sister homes at Lindsey Hall we had a long but enjoyable day. We will definitely be getting in some practice for next years games, so watch this space for Beverley Winners 2019. A full range of pictures from the interhome games can be found on Magdalen’s news page.

We have a new Skype station set up for residents to enjoy chatting with friends and family who live further afield, maintain relationships is very important to us, so now no matter how near or far relatives are, our residents are just a Skype call away.

To end the month, we had a fun filled Easter Weekend… Resident’s and relatives took park in an Easter Egg Hunt around the home, followed by an Easter themed party complete with entertainer. The residents of Beverley Parklands decided their Highlight of the Month for March was a special appearance from Beverley Ukulele Group.

**Event notice** On the 5th May we are holding a fund-raising Race Night! The event poster is in the images below which should provide any information you may need.
