Louth Manor could not arrange a farm visit for residents, so the farm came to the home instead

Brilliant sunshine was an added bonus when a farm day came to Louth Manor Care Home.

Originally the home wanted to arrange a visit to a farm for the residents, many of whom are from the local farming community, but with so many wheelchair users and problems of accessibility, it seemed nigh-on impossible. However, Louth Manor’s activities team got on the case and appealed for people to “bring the farm” to the home, asking for animals, farm vehicles and implements and more to make it a day to remember.

The appeal was successful and pledges of help materialised into an afternoon of farm fun and reminiscing, on Sunday, June 2. The care home had animals from Nunnys farm for residents to meet, tractors and farm tools to admire, and nibbles and refreshments for animals and humans alike.

Zoe Fisher, activities lead at Louth Manor, said: “It was a fabulous day on Sunday, our farm day was a huge success. The weather was brilliant for us to have the afternoon out in the garden.

“It was lovely to have our local community to come along and show their support”.

“We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who made our farm day experience happen, especially Nunny’s Farm for bringing along their animals and the farm set-up to create a day at the farm. Thank you to mum and daughter Sharon and Georgia, who are carers at Louth Manor, who own horses and brought long their gorgeous horse Jellybean”.

“Also, thank you to Kieran and John for bringing their tractors to display. The whole of the activities team – Zoe Fisher, Deborah Copping and Chloe Kersey – are so grateful and want to say a big thank you to everyone concerned. It really was great seeing all the residents so happy, which made it even better.”

A huge thank you to Grimsby Telegraph for covering this story.

With nearly one in three women experiencing domestic abuse, we chose to support Horsforth Women’s Refuge, helping women…
