Testimonials

My stepfather moved to Cottingham Manor after previous care home services were found to be grossly inadequate. He has a diagnosis of dementia. The changes that have been seen since he moved in, in his health, his appearance and his communication skills has been truly amazing. Cottingham Manor is a well organised residential care home that is meeting all his needs, physical and emotional. I am able to relax now knowing that he is safe and well cared for and that I will be made aware of any problems that arise. I feel involved in all decisions that are made as is my stepfather. The staff are caring and compassionate, despite his behaviour that can at times be challenging. He is taking part in activities and is enjoying being taken out on visits.

Overall Experience5.0 out of 5

Following a large stroke and an extended hospital stay, Mum moved into Cottingham Manor at the end of September. Mum tells me that everyone is lovely and has her best interests at heart and that everyone learns from each other so that the transition from independent living to requiring help is smooth and seamless. Mum has told me on a number of occasions that she feels safe and well looked after, so much so that it feels like they’re all one big family there. From a son's point of view, it’s been a pleasure to work with the Cottingham Manor staff, from the carers to management, really helpful and really friendly and if they don’t know an answer to a question there and then, I’ll know the answer very quickly. The staff, at all levels, are a pleasure to deal with, so thank you to you all, you have made this a home for Mum and very easy for me and my family to deal with the home, Mum and her needs.

Mum and I can't thank Cottingham Manor Care Home enough for the most amazing memorable day when Mum celebrated her 100th Birthday. The staff were amazing, I know I can't name them, but they know who they are. We will never forget what a wonderful day Mum had and how special she was made to feel. As a family, we have wonderful memories to treasure forever, Thank you.

My father initially went into Cottingham Manor for respite care after a long stay in hospital, we had to find somewhere very quickly and it was a very worrying time. The team at Cottingham Manor were fantastic, they took all our worries away. When Dad first went into Cottingham Manor he needed assistance with all aspects of personal care but the manager and her team showed such determination in helping Dad regain his quality of life. Dad eventually became a permanent resident making friends, enjoying the warm friendly atmosphere and he didn't have to go back to the hospital again - all his needs were taken care of in a safe happy environment. The people at Cottingham Manor were like Dad's second family and we will be forever grateful to them.

The ambience of Cottingham Manor is like that of a 5-star country hotel. The care is exemplary, particularly on The Haven, the dementia floor. Here, my father was brought back from death's door on his return from hospital and lived well for another 5 months. During that time the staff supported him (and me) wonderfully, and at his end, they were often by his side holding his hand and talking to him. I cannot thank them enough for the loving care they provided for him throughout his stay.

My dad has recently moved to Cottingham Manor. He initially went for a week's respite care whilst I was on holiday, but then asked to return. Staff were happy to accommodate him on respite again, initially for 3 weeks, extended to 6, to allow him to settle and be ready to make the decision to stay permanently.
There was no pressure placed on us to make the decision. The care staff are excellent - they got to know Dad very quickly and their approach is professional, friendly and supportive. The surroundings are lovely - it feels more like a hotel than a care home. It is clean and tidy at all times. There is a regular and varied programme of activities which residents can participate in if they wish. I am confident that Dad is safe and well-cared for.
Wendy H (Daughter of Resident) – 21st August 2024
My mum, who is 89 and recent had a stroke, went to stay at this excellent care home for a weeks respite. The staff were all excellent providing professional care whenever needed. The food was first class with both choice and quality. The home provided a range of interesting and varied activities, which are enjoyed by all, and the staff encouraged mum to participate too in all of them which is extremely pleasing for us. The cleanliness and the appearance is, in our opinion, to the equivalent of a five star hotel and we therefore had no reservations, worries or concerns at all about my mum staying here. When going away myself for a weeks break, I had absolutely no concerns or worries about my mum's health, happiness and welfare while staying albeit briefly. All in all a five star care home.
Lynn B (Daughter of Resident) -15th October 2024

We visited Cottingham Manor on behalf of a neighbour and was astonished by the quality and presentation of this excellent facility. A fully functional range of in-house services served by pleasant personnel. We would have no concerns in recommending this care home to any interested parties.

Clifford L (Friend of Resident) – 24th October 2024
My friend, who has dementia, recently moved into this home as she no longer able to manage at home by herself. The staff very quickly won her over by their kindness and friendly nature and she has settled in well. She has all the company she desperately needed and the privacy of her own beautiful room when she wants to be by herself. The home itself is like a cruise ship that doesn't move. The décor is of a very high quality. My friend joins in the activities on offer and has made some new friends. The staff go out of their way to make me feel at home when I visit.
Nancy R (Friend of Resident) – 10th January 2025

We enjoyed five weeks of respite care by very kind staff who were friendly and hard working. Our stay was most comfortable and it was a pleasant experience.
