Festive Fun!

Merry Christmas from everyone at Beverley Parklands!

We have had a very busy festive period already. We held a Christmas poetry session with Ann Smith, our volunteer, who stepped up the festivities arriving dressed up as Rudolf! Residents enjoyed listening to poems whilst sipping on a mocktail or two.

School children aged 4/5 years old from Hull Collegiate School came at 10.30 am and stayed most of the day. They made cards for the residents and in return the residents made crackers with sweets in for the children. One of our residents then gave the crackers to all the school children dressed as Father Christmas. To round off the day the children performed their nativity play for all our residents. The children videoed the day and they will be sending us a copy to watch in our cinema.

We also had a church service with a nativity which included audience participation – this was a really enjoyable day for everyone.

A shopping trip to a local garden centre was organised for the residents where we asked them to help choose some Christmas decorations for the home. Later that afternoon the residents enjoyed decorating the home whilst listening to Christmas carols, drinking hot chocolate and eating mince pies.
