Busy @ Westfield

It’s been a busy couple of months a Westfield Park.

Hull Transport and Strretlife Museum

In April our residents enjoyed an outing by bus to Hull to visit the Transport and Streetlife museum where they enjoyed the sights, sounds and smells of the past. They were able to experience 200 years of transport history and step back in time with a walk down a 1940’s high street.

We followed this with a drive down to Hessle Foreshore to enjoy the views across the Humber and of the Humber Bridge with a cooling ice-cream on a lovely sunny day.

Howden Vintage Day

Four residents had a trip out to the Vintage Day in Howden. They browsed through vintage stalls, watched music events, displays, and enjoyed a tea dance. One resident, Audrey, was especially excited to be there as her daughter was performing with the Lindy Hop dance group and she really enjoyed being able to watch her.

The Deep

In May the residents enjoyed an outing by bus to The Deep in Hull. This was a fascinating day with the highlight being the highly entertaining penguins!

Royal Wedding Celebrations

In the run up to the day our residents were busy getting prepared by making homemade buttonholes and fascinators to wear at the big occasion.

On the day residents and staff wearing their newly crafted items gathered in the lounge and bar area to watch the wedding on our new tv. The kitchen staff did us proud with two huge buffets for everyone across the home which was accompanied by Bucks Fizz, Prosecco, soft drinks or tea and coffee. Our celebrations even made it into the local paper!

Falconry Display

As part of our ‘Make a Wish’ event, resident Eileen had her wish came true as we were lucky enough to book a visit from the East Yorkshire Falconry club. These lovely people visited with a range of birds and set up on the front lawn as well as doing room visits across the whole home.

Junction 32 Shopping

On the 26th May we had an outing by bus to Junction 32 shopping centre at Castleford. Some retail therapy was enjoyed by the residents and it was then on to the local Weatherspoon’s for some lunch, followed by an ice-cream because once again we were lucky enough to have chosen yet another lovely sunny day.

Whilst there we took the residents into the Xscape entertainment complex to show them the bowling alley and the dry slope skiing (which Marie at 101 years young) absolutely loved watching!

Zumba classes

As a regular activity to help keep our residents fit they enjoy monthly chair Zumba classes with Laura.
