About The Role

Our new Care Home in Driffield is undergoing development and is expected to be completed in May 2025. The Home is located very close to the centre of Driffield, within walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants such as Forty One.

This luxury 68 bedroomed care home will include facilities such as an in-house bar, restaurant standard dining rooms, a full beauty salon and hairdressing room, a cinema, a convenience store, and outdoor terraces on each floor. The home will offer large, beautiful gardens, with a bowling green, allotments, and private seating areas for family, friends, and residents to enjoy.

All the bedrooms are designed to be spacious and will all come fully furnished with en-suite and all will include highly finished décor and interiors.

The ground-floor bedrooms will include doors out to private patio areas. There are also premium suites which all have their own kitchenettes or lounge areas and have been specially designed for couples or siblings but can be used individually also.

We are currently recruiting for a Relief Chef /KA

(CV selections will commence W/C 3rd February with interviews beginning to be scheduled starting the following week and ongoing until opening)

 

£12.50 per hour as relief chef     £11.50 per hour as KA

 

Shift pattern 7:30am – 6pm  as Relief Chef

              7:30am – 6:30pm as KA –   Some weekend working required.

 

A 40 hours per week role.

 

The role of Relief Chef/KA will work under the Head Chef and Chef team. Supporting them in the chef role as cover is required and as Kitchen Assistant (KA) at other times.

 

Using fresh ingredients and produce and working with the residents to ensure they are provided with a tasty, safe, nutritious and varied top quality menu.

Overview of Job Description: Relief Chef

Working alongside the Head Chef, to prepare and cook a balanced, nutritious diet within a controlled hygienic environment, adhering to the menu planner or special requests of the residents.
Planning, preparing and presenting meals to top restaurant quality
Ensuring the kitchen is run and equipment maintained to an outstanding level, providing the kind of service the residents expect and deserve.
To control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage, working with the Head Chef to keep within allocated budgets
To deputise for the Head Chef when required and provide cover and support.
To monitor stocks and purchases, thereby allocating the quantities of materials
To maintain a balanced diet and varied menus.
To ensure that all kitchen staff clean the kitchen after use, including self and, at the end of each shift, leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state
Ensure that Food Hygiene and Health and Safety standards are met.

 

Overview of Job Description: Kitchen Assistant

  • Kitchen Duties: Under the direction of the Chef to assist in kitchen tasks connected with the preparation, cooking, presentation and serving of meals and beverages whilst ensuring the highest quality of service as required by the residents and Management of the home
  • To ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness be maintained throughout the kitchen and dining area, as set by the Health and Hygiene Authorities and the Management of the home.
  • To carry out general kitchen and dining room duties, such as setting tables, washing up and serving meals to residents.
  • To report and record in an appropriate manner any information to be considered important.
  • Servery duties including basic meal preparation (Toast/Porridge/Eggs/Sandwiches etc) serving meals, tidying and cleaning tables etc
  • May include at times taking meals to Residents rooms and tidying away once finished.
  • May be required to carry out the Tea round – taking the tea/coffee trolley around the floor room to room asking residents what they would like

Person Specification:

Food Hygiene and Safety qualified
Good understanding of HACCP
Experience of a Care Home environment desirable. Confidence to engage with residents to create a varied and appetising menu
Current knowledge in catering for modified diets and allergy awareness.
Comfortable working with fresh seasonable produce and good knowledge of nutrition
A warm, approachable manner and an understanding that the residents’ wellbeing is the top priority.
