About The Role
Our new development Haxby Hall Care Home in Haxby, York started in August 2022 and is expected to be completed by April 2024.
Haxby Hall is located in the heart of Haxby, next door to the local playground, and a short walk from the amenities of the village, such as a Co-op supermarket, Costa Coffee and Haxby Bakehouse.

A Second chef
40 hours This role will include some weekend work
Pay rate £14.20 per hour
As Second chef you will support the Kitchen Manager/Head Chef to lead the team in the preparation and presentation of meals to a high standard to suit resident’s preference and dietary needs.
It is essential that all our Chefs are;
Flexible, caring and compassionate.
Positive, self-motivated and organised.
Willing to undertake any training necessary to develop skills and competency relevant to the role.
Sensitive to the needs of others.
An active team player and must be able to work on own initiative.
Possess good communication skills with colleagues, residents and visitors.
Overview of Job Description:
Supporting the Head chef in leading the kitchen team with the planning, preparing and presenting of meals to a high standard.
Ensuring the kitchen is run and equipment maintained to an outstanding level, providing the kind of service the residents expect and deserve.
To control food wastage and budget control
To monitor stocks and purchases, thereby allocating the quantities of materials
To maintain a balanced diet and varied menus.
To ensure and maintain high standards of cleanliness within the kitchen.
Ensure that Food Hygiene and Health and Safety standards are met.
Supporting and mentoring of kitchen staff to deliver high standards at meal services.

Pay Scale – £14.20 per hour regardless of age
Whilst experience is preferred, training and support is provided to a very high standard if the applicant demonstrates all the qualities we feel are essential to fulfil this role, such as having a positive and caring attitude.
