Winners – Best New Care Home in the UK!

Yorkare Homes are proud to announce that Magdalen Park Nursing Home, in Hedon, has collected the Pinders Healthcare Design Award, for best New Build Care Home in the UK for 2015. The team are delighted to have won this prestigious award as it sees the best Care Homes built that year, across the whole of the UK, entered for consideration. The Home has different care units for residents requiring care for dementia or nursing needs and the judges were particularly impressed with the thought provided to the internal layout of the Home to ensure the best care can be delivered, within an up market hotel feel. The judges were also impressed that there is easy and immediate access to external areas from each care unit on all floors, with one terrace including a bowling green on the roof while providing views across the Holderness countryside.

It was the only Home entered into the awards which included a full traditional ‘street scene’, along with our licensed pub Magdalen Arms, which has quickly become the social hub of the Home. The judges also mentioned the thought that had clearly been shown so family members of all ages visiting the Home can spend time with their friends and family, joining in many activities, while at Magdalen Park, from dining in the pub, shopping in Sweets and Treats, using the nail salon together or allowing the children to play in the children’s corner in the entertainments room. As a result of the award the manager Sue Rollinson has been promoted to the Yorkare Homes head office team and we are taking applications now for her replacement, which can be found on the careers page.

The whole team have enjoyed working on the project for the last two years and it’s fantastic to see the residents enjoying all the facilities in the Home.
