Beverley Parklands

Plenty going on at Parklands

For our in-home entertainment this month we have had a visit from the ‘Minster Minstrels’. They are a three-piece band compromising of a hard, flute and violin. With the addition of some piano playing in parts. They entertained our residents with some lovely classical music and granted requests of playing some favourites too. It was a lovely treat and the members of the group were very informative providing facts and knowledge on composers and the instruments they were playing.

A musical month continued as a lovely 30-piece choir stepped through Parklands Haven doors to sing for us. They were welcomed by many of our residents who sat back and relaxed as the choir filled the halls with their lovely singing. Some good old classics were included in their set and residents sang along to the likes of ‘Danny Boy’ and many more, bringing back fond memories from years gone by.

We have been lucky enough to receive a few visits from our lovely friend Suzie who gets our residents involved in some lovely activities, such as making bunting and fairy doors. Her most recent session has been pottery decorating. Pots were decorated by residents with help from staff in this fun and popular activity without the usually mess of pottery making. We can’t wait to see what she has in store for her next visit.

Last but not least, Parklands now has its very own Gentleman's club, which has been growing from strength to strength with more members joining in each week. Our newest activity coordinator, Jason, will be taking ownership and providing our gents with new and exciting activities. So far, they have enjoyed building models, making use of our new pool table and most recently a cheeky trip to the pub. Jason has many things planned for the group with hopes of visits to see rugby or cricket matches in the coming months. We will be sure to keep you updated on what they get up to.
