Can you imagine all the things you’d see in a lifetime?
What about the all the things you’d have seen in 100 years?
Women getting the vote, World War II, the introduction of the NHS, television, the birth of rock and roll, the moon landing, air travel, the Civil Rights Movement, the invention of the World Wide Web, three monarchs: King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II and now King Charles III.
Esme Tribick celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends last Wednesday (8th March 2023) and was very proud to receive her birthday card from King Charles.
Esme was born in Hull in 1923, attending the Boulevard Secondary School from 1932, then moving to Kingston High School when it opened in 1940. Duties often included night fire-watching in case of bombing! She trained as a PE teacher, but shortly after met her husband Jim and gave up work to become a full-time homemaker and mother to her two boys. The family moved to Cottingham Road in the 60’s where Esme lived for nearly 50 years until moving to Tranby Park Care Home just before the arrival of Covid.
When asked what the secret to her longevity is, she said ’It must be the genes… or just plain luck!’
Wishing our Esme a wonderful birthday from all at Yorkare Homes
