Robyn Cross, Registered Manager at Beverley Parklands Care Home, received a Healthcare Hero award as part of this year’s Knight Franks Luxury Care Home Guide Awards, due to her extraordinary commitment to her residents and team during the pandemic.
Knight Frank, healthcare property specialists, complete a guide to luxury care homes each year, of which Tranby Park, in Hessle, and Beverley Parklands are included this year. However, the company decided to include a number of ‘heroes’ from the care home industry to recognise the commitment shown during the pandemic.
In order to make sure she could be available at any time to care for her residents and support her team, Robyn decided to move her two young children Zachary (2) and Isla-Rae (8) to their Grandparents house on the 18/03/20, as the Homes entered lockdown during the first wave of the pandemic. Robyn would finish a day’s work and then drive for a window visit to see her children, before heading home. Robyn continued this until the 10/06/20. An amazing sacrifice and one truly deserving of this award.
Robyn stated, ‘Whilst it is lovely to receive this award personally, all of my team at Beverley Parklands are heroes for what they have achieved this last year. Every single person has had their own worries to deal with, yet they have turned up and provided amazing care to our wonderful residents. I am so proud of them all!’
‘I am also so grateful to my mum for stepping in to support me, she is a wonderful grandma and we are very lucky to have her!’
Jonathan Garton, Operations Director at Yorkare Homes, stated ‘Whilst we believe all care home staff across the Yorkare Homes group, and indeed the industry, are all Healthcare Hero’s, Robyn’s sacrifice for her team and residents is truly remarkable. She fully deserves this recognition!’
